Help!?

What can we use if we don't have a camera, printer, or fancy props?

Use a parent's phone, tablet, or webcam to record your continuous-take video and make props by drawing pictures, cutting images from magazines, or showing digital photos on a screen to arrange in order before recording or glue onto your written paper for sharing on DIY.org.

What should we do if we keep forgetting lines or a prop falls during the POV recording?

Practice saying your intro, each reason and conclusion while pretending the camera is your eyes, arrange props in order beforehand to prevent falls, and use the edit step to trim mistakes or simply record another continuous take until it's smooth.

How can this activity be changed for younger kids or older kids?

For younger children, choose simpler one-sentence reasons, use big labeled photos or drawings and have an adult press record and help arrange props, while older kids can write longer sentences, add small visuals or subtitles, and do basic video editing for a polished upload to DIY.org.

How can we make the project more creative or personal?

Personalize it by adding a hand-drawn map or extra labels for each landmark, short facts about the food or tradition, background music or subtitles, and a clear title with your name before sharing the final piece on DIY.org.

Facts about countries and cultures

🌍 There are 195 widely recognized countries in the world (193 UN members + 2 observers).

🏛️ UNESCO protects over 1,100 World Heritage Sites around the globe—many famous landmarks are on that list.

🍲 Nearly every country has iconic foods or a national dish that reflect its history and ingredients.

🎉 Some traditions and festivals have been celebrated for hundreds or even thousands of years and bring communities together.

🎥 Short POV videos (under 60 seconds) are one of the most popular ways people share quick travel and culture highlights online.

How do I create a POV video or written piece about my country that shows three things I love?

To create a POV video or written piece, choose three favorites—a landmark, a food, and a tradition. Plan a short first-person script or outline explaining why each matters to you. Gather photos, props, or record short clips from your viewpoint, then film or write your piece. Edit for clarity and length, add captions or subtitles if needed, and share with family, classmates, or online with parental approval.

What materials do I need to make a POV of my country (video or written)?

You’ll need a smartphone, tablet, or camera for filming, or paper and a pen/computer for a written piece. Collect photos, props, traditional items, or recipe ingredients if showing food. Optional items: tripod, simple editing app, map, and costume pieces. For school submissions, prepare printouts or slides. Always get parental permission for recording in public and help with cooking or using online tools.

What ages is this activity suitable for?

This activity suits ages 5–14 with adult help for younger kids. Ages 5–7 can make a one-minute filmed POV or a short written sentence with help picking items and filming. Ages 8–11 can research landmarks and foods, write short scripts, and try basic editing. Teens 12–14 can create more detailed storytelling, interviews, and polished edits. Adjust complexity and supervision to each child’s skills.

What are the benefits of making a POV about my country?

Creating a POV about your country builds cultural pride, communication, and creativity. Kids practice research by finding facts about landmarks and traditions, improve writing or speaking skills, and learn digital tools when filming or editing. Sharing the finished piece boosts confidence and empathy as children explain what matters to them, and it can spark family conversations that strengthen intergenerational connections.
