Today, we're excited to launch the DIY Build Your Own Headphones: Creator Candy Edition.
Created in collaboration with Kibu, this limited-edition version of their build-it-yourself headphones comes in a special Creator Candy colourway inspired by creativity, music, technology, and making.
Alongside the headphones, we've also created the DIY.org Sound Lab, a collection of playful sound experiences where kids can explore music, experiment with audio, and create something entirely their own. Together, they're designed to celebrate something both DIY.org and Kibu care deeply about: helping kids move from consuming technology to creating with it.
Build It
The Creator Candy headphones arrive as a kit, ready to be assembled at home. Like every Kibu product, they're designed to be approachable, repairable, and easy to understand. Kids can build them in around twenty minutes with no glue and no complicated tools required.
What we love most about the experience is what happens before the headphones are even switched on.
Before a child ever puts them on, they've already spent time building them, understanding them, and making them their own, often alongside a parent.
For many families, it's a small but meaningful opportunity to create something together.
The Creator Candy colourway was inspired by that same spirit of creativity, combining vibrant colours with softer tones to create something playful, imaginative, and full of personality.

Play It
Once the headphones are built, the experience continues inside the DIY.org Sound Lab.
Created exclusively for this collaboration, the Sound Lab is a collection of musical playgrounds, sound experiments, interactive games, and creative audio tools designed for curious kids who want to do more than just listen.
Some experiences invite exploration. Others invite experimentation. The best ones encourage kids to take an idea and transform it into something entirely their own.
A few of our favourites include:
Monster Tracks – build your own beats by mixing and layering monster-themed sounds.
Frequency Fishing – discover how sound works through a playful game built around frequencies.
Neon Drop Pinball – an audio and visual playground where every bounce creates music.
Arpeggiator Playground and Spiral Synth – interactive musical tools that make music creation approachable, playful, and fun.
Each experience approaches sound from a different angle, but all of them share the same goal: making creativity accessible, playful, and fun.
You can explore the Sound Lab at diy.org/kibu.

Remix It
What makes Creator Candy special is what happens after kids have explored the Sound Lab.
The experiences don't stop there.
Every Sound Lab experience can be opened inside DIY.org's Vibe Coder, where kids can remix projects, modify them, and create something entirely their own.
A musical playground can become a game.
A sound experiment can become a new project.
A simple idea can become something completely unexpected.
That's the part we love most.
The goal isn't simply to play with technology. It's to understand it, experiment with it, and use it as a tool for creativity.

Why DIY.org and Kibu?
When we first met the team at Kibu, we quickly realised we were asking many of the same questions.
How do we help kids become creators rather than consumers?
How do we encourage curiosity in a world where so much technology is designed to be passive?
And how do we create experiences that invite children to participate rather than simply watch?
While our approaches are different, our goals are remarkably similar.
Kibu helps kids build technology.
DIY.org helps kids create with it.
The Creator Candy headphones and Sound Lab bring those two ideas together, combining a product that kids can build with experiences they can explore, remix, and make their own.
Looking Ahead
When we first started talking with Kibu, we hoped to create something that connected physical making with digital creativity.
The Creator Candy headphones and the DIY.org Sound Lab are the result.
What excites us most isn't just what we've built.
It's what kids will create next.
The Sound Lab is designed to be explored, remixed, and built upon. Every experience is an invitation to experiment, follow your curiosity, and create something new.
We can't wait to see the musical playgrounds, games, inventions, and unexpected ideas that come from it.
If you'd like to join us, you can get your Creator Candy headphones and start exploring the Sound Lab today.
